In chemical industry, it can be melted with phosphate ore or appetite to be Ca-Mg-P fertilizer, and it also can be used as a raw material to extract magnesia chemical compound and Epsom salt. In the metallurgical industry, it is a raw materials for smelting metal magnesium and be flux. Calcined forsterite can be used as tapping of molten steel. It's also material for unshaped refractory.
